I found a podcast that focuses on our controversial issue, animal furs.
It's "The PETA Practical Guide to Animal Rights", made by PETA, an organization claiming animal rights. The podcast focuses mainly on animal rights, including the speaker's own episode about being a vegetarian, and about saving a dog bullied by some people. It has the part that introduces us about the history of thought of animal rights, about the current situation of animal fur trade, and brief explanation about animal rights. It gives us an encouragement to think about animal rights, especially on the topic of animal furs. You can learn and think about the issue listening to this podcast, rather easily because it has many interesting episode of the speaker, and so you'll be able to imagine the situation well. Try finding the podcast!
I hadn't heard of the PETA podcast that you describe in your blog entry, so I'm looking forward to subscribing to it. I respect advocates of animal rights who also have made the commitment to becoming a vegetarian or vegan as well. It means that they have put their money where their mouth is; in other words, they aren't hypocrites. I have known some people who make a big show out of "caring for animals" [for example, by reporting a hotel in Vietnam that displays a bear to guests as an attraction], but, the same person may go into the restaurant of the hotel and think nothing of ordering a meat dish. Animal rights advocates can make a better impression on others by showing how consistent they are--not only SAYING that they love animals, but proving they do by not EATING them.
返信削除Hi, Ikumi! I got interested in the pod cast you found about the animal right because it has a lot of interesting episode of the speaker . As you said in this blog entry, there is a scene about saving a dog bullied by some people(I’m so sorry that I haven’t seen the pod cast yet because I still have a lot of things to do). As you MAY know, Kensuke and I learn bully problem that many young children around the world are suffering now. I think it’s too bad that people bully not only people, but animals. I cannot understand what they think even though bullying, killing animals and finally getting fur from them are their job.
